Fit from Within

What: Nutrition Basics.

Why: The cornerstone of any fit physique begins with nutrition.

The single most important aspect of fitness is absolutely nutrition.  A fit physique must be fueled properly with fats, carbohydrates, and proteins from the right sources.  Notice that I mentioned food sources, . . . not calories.

What you put in your body shows outwardly.  Wonder why you can't lose that stubborn 5-10 lbs?  Look at your food sources.  Here's some examples of what you should be picking:

1. Carbohydrates:

The bulk of our carbohydrates should be coming from vegetables, pure and simple. Secondary to veggies, then should come moderate servings of fruit, oats, sweet potatoes, and legumes.

2. Proteins

Protein sources should be from fish, salmon, brown eggs, poultry, grass fed beff, and brown eggs.  As a supplement, a good protein powder can be used.

3.  Fats

Fats have gotten such a bad rap over the years, but are arguably the most important macronutrient for losing fat.  Again, you have to focus your energy on picking the right sources.  Stick with olive oil, avocados, raw nuts, cocnut oil, fish oil, and flax.

Notice anything missing?  There's no milk, cheese, yogurt, and certainly nothing processed.

Look back at "What I Ate Today" to see how to piece together your own clean meals.
